Guitar Prices Low, Quality High!!! More Happy Players!

Guitar prices are low. Better quality and great guitar deals to be had. In today's guitar world,"cheap" no longer means "really bad stuff that doesn't work". It really means you get a real guitars at unreal prices. How do I know? I've done some research for you. It was tough, but somebody has to do it. Don't feel sorry for me. You want some answers before buying a guitar? What should you expect to spend? Ready?, If you were to spend $125.00, 10, even 30 years ago, chances were you would get a "bad" quality product. I've had to share in that experience too many times. Even buying used is gambling. They probably want to sell it for a reason that you'll discover when it's too late. It takes a super trained eye to find a good deal on used guitars. Even then, the good deals are gone before you get there. So, you don't want to go that way if you don't absolutely have to, or you got one of those special prizes you shouldn't pass up. Free can work sometimes! Buyer or taker beware. FACT: One truth I've found from all my research recently is, you need to spend at least $100.00 for a guitar. Anything less and it probably won't stay in tune. I think that's kind of important, don't you? But!!, You will get a better designed, quality made guitar for your money today. ( While doing this research on guitar prices, I was AMAZED at what I found. I'll tell you why.) First a little background. There are 2 major guitar makers on the market that have been around, and dominated it, for many years. Fender and Gibson. In Sept. 08, I had the opportunity to ask a specialist from Gibson,"Why wasn't it like this years ago? Why were guitar prices the same and the quality terrible?" The answer I received may surprise you. This company had figured out that spending a little more money on design and parts, that would last longer, would save them the money they lose on returns and bad word of mouth. They actually talked to the people handling the returns, as well as the guys at the stores who have to sell them. Those guys hate to see dreams killed by small parts breaking. The company ended up saving millions. They also got back their hard earned reputation. Good job Gibson! I speculate this move will transfer to many more life long customers. More people will be able to start playing on quality musical instruments. One thing before I move on. I personally tried every instrument and accessory mentioned here. I won't write opinions based on any manufacturers advertising like some do. Actually I've tried more instruments than are mentioned here. If they aren't mentioned, it is because of my mother. Mom always said "If you don't have something nice to say, (you know the rest) don't say anything at all." I know there are manufacturers I haven't found yet. I let you know when I do. More great guitar prices, and deals for everyone! The easier it is to play guitar for real. We now have to take into account where and how you acquire your guitar. Good Facts to Know: Make sure you test all knobs, tuners, and look for bad frets or action. Test everything and play every fret. You should be able to trust a knowledgeable salesperson, because they shouldn't want you dissatisfied. You may also bring a friend with experienced eyes. If that is not the case, it is a good idea to have a professional check everything, set up the neck, intonation, action, and change the factory strings as soon as you get your new guitar. (Unless you know how to do it yourself.) Secret: Next to every Guitar Center, I've been to, a guitar repairman's shop is nearby. Sometimes they are located in nearby lesson centers. Smaller music stores will either have someone there, or they know someone they can send it out to. To me, this option is hard because you just got all excited to play your new instrument, and now you have to wait. Hopefully you can work something out to get you going now. If you buy over the internet or are having it sent to you, sometimes this is already done for you. If not, 9 times out of 10, you will want to have it done. (Remember, always have extra strings? If not read "Necessities".) If the action ,intonation and strings are fine, there are no loose screws, and everything works great. You are good to go. It happens. Rarely. When you do order through the Internet always consider shipping and insurance costs. This adds to the price. A $5.00 strap is a good deal, until you pay $12.00 shipping. The following pages show what I found to be the guitar prices of today. (09/30/08) Besides the great "Value Packages", I will also suggest individual prices. I'll also cover the "necessities". So, I need to ask everyone, (including you, brother and sister-in-law) have I answered your questions? I know, I know, you want me to teach how to play. Please be patient.
