Guitar Chords Chart for Open Sevenths
This guitar chords chart features the third common open position chords. These add a note to the Major Chords allowing for different sounds. The F7 will include an actual Bar Chord which we'll discuss later.

Learn to play these together with the Major and Minor Chords. The Sevenths are often used for THE BLUES. Compare the sound of a slowly strummed G major to a G7 and a G minor. Hear the differences? By practicing each for the same chord name, your ear will be able to tell when you hear them in songs. You'll now know most of the common chords found in a lot of songs. Below are pictures of the chords in the same order as above. A7-G7.

Practice: All major, minor and sevenths. You should have a total of 21 chords to work with. Mix them up! For example: At a comfortable speed, Strum Em four times, G four times, Am four times, C two times and B7 two times. This is very similar to a great song from long ago called "I'd Love To Change The World" by a band Named "Ten Years After". Their guitar player Alvin Lee is incredible. You actually have enough chords to make up your own songs. Enjoy!
