More About Changing Classical Strings

Changing classical strings are different from the other 2 types. (acoustic/electric and electric)

First Step is to unwind and untie the existing string, basically removing it from the tuner first, then untying it from the bridge.

Second Step is to put the new string through the bridge and leave about 1 and a 1/2 inches at the end. You'll take it back toward the bridge and wrap it under and over 2 times.

Step Three is to make the last wrap go behind the bridge.

It's a little tricky for big fingers, but once your done it should look like this.

Step Four is to take the other end of the string up through the nut and take it up around through the hole again so it ends up winding the opposite way. this will lock it in place when you tune. Remember, over, through, back and through.

Step Five is to wind and tune. Give a little tug to stretch and re-tune. Repeat until it stays close to in tune on it's own.

Step Five is to wind and tune.(As shown on the previous page.) Give a little tug to stretch and re-tune. Repeat until it stays close to in tune on it's own. Now you repeat for the rest of the strings. Make sure to check tuning before each time you play. These strings change tuning with the weather. That means daily and nightly.
