More About Changing Acoustic Strings

It needs to be noted that when changing acoustic strings, after following Step 1: Unwinding the string and removing it from the post; you'll need to pull the pin from the bridge. This will allow removal of the ball end. Always use a small towel or doubled up cloth to make sure you don't leave any unwanted marks or nicks. I've found these wire cutters do a good job of prying to get the pin moving. (Regular pliers tend to leave bite marks on the pin. I don't recommend screwdrivers. You don't want to end up with dents if you slip.) Once loose, you should be able to pull it out with your hand.

Step 2: Put the ball end of the new string in the hole and push the pin back in. Make sure the indentations on the pin face toward the neck. The indents allow room for the string to pass by. Sometimes the pin will need a couple taps to get it to the proper depth. Use the towel or cloth over them before tapping, for protection. Step 3 : You put the string through the tuning post.
